.11 What I'm Reading

It was another rough week over at the Heideman house. I am still catching up on work, my husband didn’t get home until after the boys were in bed most nights, the boys were recovering from strep throat, and Hudson had to stay home one of the days due to a bad cough. Such is life.

However, I did manage to read one small book by C.S. Lewis. Lewis’ writing is so comforting to me and serves as a balm to my soul on hard days. Read more…

.09 What I'm Reading

Well, we are fighting the flu over at the Heideman household, which means that I have had little time to work, little sleep, and lots of time to read or listen to books as I snuggle my kids.

This week I read two easy reads and listened to one book on productivity. Productivity books are a little ironic to me because often, the best thing we can do to finish projects is to JUST DO IT (to liberally borrow Nike’s tag line). Click over to read about this week’s books.

.05 What I'm Readying

I only have one book for you this week, and it is an audiobook. I am still working my way through The Intelligent Investor, by Benjamin Graham, but it is taking a while as I can’t make it more than a few paragraphs without stopping to take notes. I will be done with this book next week and ready to discuss it. However, I can already tell you that I highly recommend this book. If you have any investments (even a 401K!) read this book.

On Reading

I am a reader. And that is my Papa's fault.

From my later elementary years on, every time I would see my Papa the first question he would ask me was, "What book are you reading?" It honestly never occurred to me that my answer could be, "I am not reading anything." And so I read. Sometimes I read because I enjoyed it. Sometimes I read just so I could have an answer to give to my Papa. Along the way, though, I fell in love with reading.
